As a high-quality equipment in the global industrial field, the Sulzer SALOMIX™ SL series agitators are widely used in core industries such as chemical engineering, pharmaceuticals, water treatment, papermaking, and metallurgy. They often operate under severe working conditions involving corrosive media, solid-containing slurries, flammable, explosive, toxic and harmful media. The core of their stable operation lies in the high reliability and working condition adaptability of the sealing system. Tailored specifically for the operational characteristics and working condition pain points of this series of agitators, we have custom-developed the Model 2450 double mechanical seal. With its adaptive structural design and strong resistance to harsh working conditions, it provides long-cycle, zero-leakage and low-maintenance sealing protection for the equipment.

I. Core Structural Design: Addressing Agitator's Working Pain Points and Enhancing Sealing Reliability

Every structural design of the Model 2450 double mechanical seal is refined based on the operational characteristics of the Sulzer SALOMIX™ SL series agitators, fundamentally solving common sealing failure problems of mixing equipment.

1. Static Compensated Seal Face + Balanced Design for Stable Adaptation to Complex Working Conditions

This series of seals adopts a static compensated seal face design. Different from the traditional rotating compensation structure, the compensation spring is completely isolated from the process medium, fundamentally avoiding the risk of clogging, corrosion and jamming of the spring caused by particles, coking substances and corrosive components in the medium, ensuring that the spring compensation force remains stable and controllable throughout the operation. Even under harsh medium conditions such as solid-containing slurries, easy crystallization and high viscosity, it can always maintain good fit of the seal faces, preventing leakage caused by failure of the compensation mechanism.
At the same time, combined with the balanced design, it can effectively offset the impact of medium pressure fluctuations on the seal faces, greatly reducing the working specific pressure of the faces, reducing friction, wear and temperature rise. It not only improves the high-pressure resistance of the seal, but also significantly extends the service life of the seal faces and the entire unit, adapting to the operational needs of the SL series agitators in high and low pressure alternating scenarios such as reaction kettles and mixing tanks.

2. Double-End Single-Set Multi-Spring Structure: Resistant to Axial Movement for More Stable Operation

Aiming at the axial movement problem that is prone to occur when the Sulzer SALOMIX™ SL series agitators start, stop or experience load fluctuations, the Model 2450 adopts a double-end single-set multi-spring axial layout structure. The multi-spring design achieves uniform distribution of end face load, avoiding the disadvantage of uneven force on a single spring; the axial layout feature ensures that the axial movement of the shaft will not affect the working compression amount and load stability of the spring at all, and always maintains good fit specific pressure of the seal faces.

The double-end structure forms a dual sealing protection. Combined with the isolation and buffer system, it can effectively isolate the process medium from the outside world. Even if the inner main seal is abnormal, the outer secondary seal can still provide reliable protection, completely eliminating the leakage risk of toxic, harmful, flammable and explosive media, and greatly improving the safety level of equipment operation.

II. Full-Scenario Adaptability: Covering Diverse Working Conditions and Compatible with Mainstream Flushing Plans

The Model 2450 double mechanical seal has strong adaptability to working conditions, which can fully cover various application scenarios of the Sulzer SALOMIX™ SL series agitators. It can be quickly installed and stably operated without modifying the equipment itself.
In terms of medium adaptation, this series of seals is custom-developed for severe working conditions, and can stably adapt to various complex media such as corrosive media, solid-containing slurries, easy-to-crystallize media, volatile organic solvents, flammable, explosive and highly toxic media, meeting the extreme working condition needs of chemical, pharmaceutical, papermaking and other industries.
In terms of installation adaptation, it can be compatible with both top-mounted and side-mounted agitators, matching different installation scenarios and equipment interface sizes of the SL series agitators, greatly reducing the user's equipment transformation cost and shutdown replacement time.

In terms of auxiliary system adaptation, it is fully compatible with the Plan 52, 53A, 54, and 55 flushing plans of the API 682 standard, and can be flexibly matched according to the safety level of the working conditions and the characteristics of the medium: the unpressurized buffer Plan 52 is suitable for volatile medium working conditions with high environmental protection requirements; the pressurized isolation Plan 53A is suitable for flammable and explosive medium working conditions; the external forced circulation Plan 54 is suitable for extremely severe working conditions such as high toxicity, high temperature and high pressure; the dry gas isolation Plan 55 can be adapted to clean working conditions with zero liquid discharge, providing users with a full-scenario selection of auxiliary system adaptation.

III. Customized Adaptation: Matching Sulzer SALOMIX™ SL Series Agitators for Cost Reduction and Efficiency Improvement

As a customized sealing product for the Sulzer SALOMIX™ SL series agitators, the Model 2450 is completely designed in accordance with the core parameters of this series of agitators, such as shaft diameter, speed, installation tolerance and operating runout range. The installation size is fully compatible with the original equipment interface, enabling in-situ direct replacement without any processing and modification of the core components such as the equipment shaft and cavity, greatly shortening the equipment shutdown maintenance time and reducing the user's operation and maintenance cost.
At the same time, aiming at the operational characteristics of the SL series agitators such as radial runout and axial movement, we have specially optimized the floating compensation capacity and anti-deflection performance of the seal, which can effectively absorb the shaft system deviation during equipment operation, greatly reduce the seal failure rate, help users achieve long-cycle continuous operation of the equipment, reduce unplanned shutdown losses, and escort the stable, safe and efficient operation of industrial production.
