In heavy-duty industrial processing—where pumps handle abrasive slurries, high-pressure pulp, or hazardous chemicals—the mechanical seal is the most frequent point of failure. The Sulzer® SB1 (Single) and SB2 (Double) series are engineered for these exact challenges, but the high cost and long lead times of OEM replacements can often disrupt a plant's maintenance schedule.

At FBU Sealing Technology, we have developed the FBU 2260 and 2261 as precision-engineered, factory-direct alternatives. We don't just provide a replacement; we act as a technical partner, ensuring your heavy-duty pumps maintain peak performance with significantly improved cost-efficiency.

The FBU 2260: A Robust Single Cartridge Solution (SB1 Alternative)

The FBU 2260 is our answer to the Sulzer® SB1. This single cartridge seal is designed for modularity and ease of maintenance in standard heavy-duty applications.

Modular Construction: Our design allows for the reuse of certain components during repair, which is a major factor in reducing long-term lifecycle costs for maintenance departments.

Balanced Design: Like the SB1, the 2260 features a balanced face design that minimizes heat generation and wear even during pressure fluctuations.

Versatility: It is a "plug-and-play" fit for Sulzer pumps in wastewater, mining, and general process industries.

The FBU 2261: Dual-Face Protection for Harsh Media (SB2 Alternative)

For hazardous fluids or high-solid slurries that would destroy a single seal, the FBU 2261 Double Cartridge Seal(replacing the SB2) provides the necessary barrier.

Dual-Seal Reliability: By utilizing a pressurized or non-pressurized barrier fluid (API Plan 52/53), the 2261 creates a clean environment for the seal faces, protecting them from the abrasive media inside the pump.

Safety First: The dual-face design acts as a redundant safety system, preventing catastrophic leaks of toxic or abrasive fluids even if the primary seal is compromised.

Optimized Flow: Internal geometry is designed to maximize cooling flow, preventing the "baking" of solids around the seal faces.

The FBU Difference: Quality, Customization, and Logistics

1. Precision Manufacturing & 100% Testing

Every FBU 2260 and 2261 seal is manufactured at our Suzhou facility under strict ISO quality controls. Unlike generic replacements, we perform 100% static and dynamic pressure testing on every cartridge unit. When an international pump dealer or OEM manufacturer receives an FBU seal, they receive a product verified for immediate industrial service.

2. Technical Customization for Your Specific Media

One size does not always fit all in heavy-duty sealing. As your technical partner, we offer:

Upgraded Face Materials: While Sintered Silicon Carbide (SSiC) is standard, we provide Tungsten Carbide (TC) or diamond-coated faces for extreme slurry applications.

Advanced Elastomers: We can customize O-rings with Aflas® or Kalrez® for high-temperature or highly corrosive chemical environments.

3. Factory-Direct Value & Supply Chain Speed

By working directly with FBU, you eliminate the brand-name premium without sacrificing engineering quality. This allows procurement managers to optimize their budgets while improving the MTTR (Mean Time to Repair).

Global Shipping: We maintain a strategic inventory of common SB series sizes (Metric and ANSI) and utilize high-speed international freight to ensure your plant isn't waiting weeks for a critical part.

FAQ

1. Are FBU 2260/2261 seals dimensionally identical to the Sulzer® SB1/SB2?

Yes. Our designs are 100% dimensionally interchangeable. They fit the original Sulzer stuffing box perfectly without any modifications to the shaft or pump housing.

2. Which applications are best suited for the FBU 2261 (SB2 replacement)?

We recommend the 2261 for media with high solid content (slurries), hazardous chemicals, or fluids that tend to crystallize. The double seal provides the barrier fluid protection needed to keep the seal faces lubricated and cool.

3. Can I order these seals in ANSI standard dimensions for North American pumps?

Absolutely. While we provide Metric (DIN) versions, we also manufacture the ANSI-compatible variants (specifically designed for the SB1A/SB2A series) to serve our global partners.

4. Do you offer repair kits or just complete cartridge units?

5. We provide both. For many of our technical partners, we supply full cartridge units for fast replacement, as well as high-quality repair kits (faces, O-rings, and springs) for their internal maintenance teams.
