FBU Delivers High-Performance Solutions! Upgraded APOG-FB Enhanced Seal + THS System for Copper Smelting Slurry Pumps
From 2020 to 2024, FBU completed the sealing system retrofits for six WARMAN®-brand slurry pumps (shaft diameter: 145mm) at a copper smelting plant. By combining APOG-FB upgraded seals (with key components made of HAST.C276 material) and the THS sealing support system, the challenges posed by harsh operating conditions were successfully tackled, resulting in seal service life far exceeding customer expectations.
The slurry pumps handle media containing dilute sulfuric acid and metal smelting by-products, which are highly corrosive and abrasive. Conventional seals were prone to frequent failure and short lifespans. FBU provided a tailored solution: the HAST.C276 material offers excellent corrosion and wear resistance, making it ideal for harsh media. The THS system enhances seal performance through pressure regulation, impurity filtration, and temperature control, ensuring stable operation under extreme conditions.
After the retrofit, the equipment completely resolved issues such as frequent leakage and short replacement cycles, greatly reducing maintenance costs and downtime losses. This upgrade supports the smelting plant in ensuring production continuity and improving operational efficiency. This successful project highlights FBU's technical expertise and customization capabilities, demonstrating its commitment to delivering high-quality sealing solutions for industrial equipment needs.

The storage tank of the THS system is equipped with a serpentine coil, which can cool the buffer in real-time.The front of the THS system is equipped with a glass plate liquid level gauge and a high and low liquid level alarm position, which facilitates real-time observation of liquid level changes.Various instruments and meters can be optionally installed, such as thermometers, pressure switches, liquid level switches, pressure transmitters, liquid level transmitters, etc. It can achieve on-site alarm and also transmit data to the PLC control panel for better monitoring of the operation of mechanical seals.The back bracket adopts a hanging ear design, which is convenient for on-site installation and disassembly.Mainly used for mechanical seal auxiliary system API 682 Plan 52/53A.
