What "balanced" really buys you

ESMA is a rotating hydraulically balanced single cartridge mechanical seal. Plenty of buyers skip past the word "balanced," but it's the one detail that separates this seal from the cheap non-balanced ones. Those run with high face contact pressure; spin them up and the faces overheat, power draw climbs, and life drops off. ESMA's hydraulic balance holds face pressure low, so the faces run cooler, energy stays down, and you're not pulling the pump apart every few months. Why we put the springs outside the media

This is the part field feedback keeps coming back to. A water-treatment customer came to us with a familiar problem: his fluid carried trace sludge, and his old seal had its springs sitting in the media. They clogged, lost load, the faces opened—seal done. On ESMA, the multiple springs live outside the process. Solids and scale can't get to them, so face pressure holds steady. Materials: matched to the job, not to a price ceiling

The build covers a broad spread of chemical services without over-engineering. Hardware is 316SS—enough for routine corrosion. Rotating face is your call: carbon, SSIC, or tungsten carbide. Stationary face is SSIC or tungsten carbide, picked by how abrasive the media is. Springs are Alloy 276. O-rings come in EPR, Viton, Aflas, or Kalrez with PTFE gaskets, and we pick the elastomer to the actual fluid rather than forcing one universal part. Installing it doesn't require a specialist

It's a modular cartridge built to ASME B73.1 / B73.2 stuffing-box dimensions, so it drops into ANSI standard boxes and covers shafts from 1.375" to 3.625" (34.9–66.67 mm). Compression and centering are set at the factory, which means on site you're not recalculating assembly numbers and you're unlikely to install it off-center. A newer fitter can do the swap correctly the first time, and your risk on every seal change goes down.

Where it stops—and where GSMA takes over

ESMA is a general-duty seal: 15 bar max, -20~+120°C, ≤20 m/s face velocity. Process-side ports 01/02/03/11/12/13/14/21/22/31/32/41 all take flush and auxiliary connections.
