From user consultations over the past month, we have learned that mechanical seal leakage occurs frequently in paper mills. The main causes include erosion and wear on seal faces by pulp fibers, misalignment of seal pairs due to axial movement of pump shafts during operation, and insufficient compensation performance of seal structures. Such problems often lead to medium leakage and equipment shutdown, seriously affecting the continuity of papermaking processes.
The Series 2230 cartridge mechanical seals developed by FBU Sealing Technology (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. are optimized to address the above issues. Tailored to the pump chamber design of Sulzer® AHLSTAR pumps, they can directly replace the JCS1 model, providing a reliable solution for mechanical seal replacement in paper mills.
This series offers multiple seal pair combinations including SiC-SiC, SiC-graphite and SiC-WC, all subjected to precision lapping. With a seal face flatness error ≤0.0009mm and surface roughness <0.8μm, they effectively resist pulp fiber erosion and medium corrosion, reducing the wear rate of seal faces. Featuring a core wave spring compensation structure, compared with traditional single-spring designs, it delivers more uniform compensation force, which can offset the impact of ±0.5mm pump shaft axial movement and slight vibration on seal pairs, ensuring continuous and tight fit of seal faces and meeting the reliability requirements for mechanical seal replacement in paper mills.
In terms of adaptability, this series covers common shaft diameters of 30, 40, 50, 60, 80 and 90mm. Its standardized structural design enables compatibility with different Sulzer® pump models, lowering the cost of mechanical seal replacement for paper mills. The sealing solutions are compatible with Plan 01, 02, 11, 12, 13, 21 and 22, allowing flexible selection based on process conditions: Plan 11 flushing solution is suitable for pulping processes to counter pulp fiber erosion; Plan 21 external circulation cooling solution fits evaporation processes to withstand high-temperature media of 80-120℃; Plan 22 double protection solution applies to end conveying processes to prevent slight corrosive wastewater leakage, fully meeting the adaptability requirements for mechanical seal replacement in paper mills.
